Everything was well packaged and the shipper helped me put the crate in my garage. I have a few minor issues with the lathe. 1. You have to move the headstock and the large control box together. If one modular connector were added to the wiring harness, you could disconnect the motor and the headstock from the control box. This would make moving them easier and safer. 2. The magnets on the emergency stop/start switch aren’t strong enough to hold the switch on a vertical surface. 2. The machining on the bottom of the banjo is very poor, it scrapes across the nicely milled ways. 3. The machining on the rest of the machine is first rate. I have seen this comment from other reviewers and witnessed it on another Harvey T-60S. 4. 5. The tool banjo is very short so even my long shank tool rests that I use on my PM 3520c are too short.
I gave it 5 stars as the machine is solidly made, vibration free, and very quiet in operation. The lathe will run at a much lower speed than advertised which is helpful for sanding and finishing. I was able to get it down to less than 10 RPM. The speed indicator doesn’t work when it is that slow (it just reads zero). All in all a great product at a very fair price.
Received my new lathe. Very heavy duty. Still setting it up. Can’t wait to turn with it.
Shipping updates were very good the entire process. The machine arrived in perfect condition with no damage from the shipping distance, across the country. Have used the machine for a little over a week and I am very pleased with the construction and the power. I have this lathe, a Harvey table saw and a Harvey band saw and I am well pleased with each of these machines. I would recommend Harvey to anyone who is serious about power and quality.
Love this machine! Works great with no vibration! I turned a 20 inch piece of sycamore 6 inches thick with ease!
Great machine. Smooth, quiet and torque over the entire rpm range. Fit and finish are top notch.
The lathe came securely packaged for a long trip. Everything was packaged so there would be no damage, however minimal it could be. The only thing I would change is the electronics pic on page 11 fig 6. There is no way that the box can be separated from the headstock. So it’s a bit awkward to install. I did talk with customer service but the tech on the other end referred me to the YouTube video on unpacking and set up. Didn’t address my question. Installing a receptacle on one end would solve the issue.
Not much to say. It is very well built. Had one broken wire clip that harvy replaced immediately. Great people. The price is worth it.
I’m am extremely satisfied with my new lathe! The design and engineering that went into it are top notch. The build quality is excellent which shows that the people who work for Harvey care about what they do. The only negative thing that I have to say is that it took them about 12 days before they shipped my lathe. I don’t understand how something that was made and perfectly crated in China and was sitting in a warehouse in California took so long for them to get around to getting a freight carrier to pick up.
I would definitely buy another Harvey tool if I needed one.
Love it. Love it. Love it. Every thing is top notch. Everything. Couldn’t be happier. Do be prepared to have hoist or lift truck to assemble. And after assembly to move it to your exact spot. Assembly was easy. Do NOT take the tail stock off. I’m 78. Not a bodybuilder. Thank goodness I have a hoist! The delivery driver was awesome. He placed the big box onto two dollies so we could roll it around the shop. Big help! This is a beautiful beast. Very happy.

Wood turning is so much fun! I wish I had more time to do it! This week we're making a Windsor/Maloof-style hybrid rocking chair. The turnings are mostly simple tapers, but there are plenty to do!
